Democrat Editorial from the other day > Rexroad.com

Many of you (probably 8) contacted me about the editorial in the Daily Democrat on Tuesday that covered the large number of charitable events that are happening. These people thought the Democrat was sticking it is my eye because Dotty, Dave, and I were somehow pushing the school district out of the way to hold this backpacks for kids event on Saturday.

First, I don't read the editorial like that. The Democrat is a sponsor of the event. In fact, I think they are our largest in-kind sponsor. Heck, Jim Smith was even in the dunk tank last year.

Second, we did communicate with the school district. They only need like 50 backpacks. We are on pace for 1,0000. They need like 5% of our total. Dotty can fill more backpacks than that in about 15 minutes. We told them that we would take care of all their needs in terms of backpacks and supplies. Why they are pushing this other event and not concentrating on other things is beyond me -- but they can do what they want.

Finally, we have worked too hard to turn back now. Saturday is the event and we are going for it. It also appears that we have landed some new major sponsors for next year. The committee needs to talk about next year but from my point of view the school district can either let us provide them with all their needs or go ahead and run a competing event.

Onward to Saturday.
