The Chamber of Commerce - Supports Round-about

I'm told that the Woodland Chamber of Commerce executive committee voted today to support the round-about at the corner of Kentucky Avenue and Road 98.

As someone that is supportive of the Chamber and their mission it pains me to see them take this position.  At this point, I do not see how I could possibly support this proposal.

It's not that I am against round-abouts.  I actually think they are appropriate in some situations.  This intersection is not one of them.  It is too bad I need to part ways on this policy issue with the Chamber.

Wait.  This is the solution to the I-5/113 intersection.  $63 million.  Forget it.  We will stick in a round-about for safety.  If gravel trucks can do it -- so can interstate traffic.  We need to go back to the California Transportation Commission with this $2 million proposal. We just saved them $61 million. Awesome.

Intersection of CR 98 at Kentucky Avenue a 2 door Mazda was stopped in the northbound lane when a Hay hauler with two loaded trailers slid to a stop on the east side of the passanger vehicle. It appeared both drivers were confused as the driver of the passenger vehicle had remained stopped longer than required to insure the controlled intersection had cleared and it was safe to proceed. The truck ended up into the intersection approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the way into the intersection. The passenger vehicle then made a right hand turn in front of the stopped hay truck and proceeded eastbound on Kentucky. Maybe an installation of some "rumble strips" and flashing lights on the north/south CR 98 to alert inattentive drivers to the 4 way stop. No telling what may have happened in a round-about.
