One of the policy areas I have found very interesting is this whole In Home Support Services (IHSS) Program. It is a tough area. It is arguably a true health prevention program. The problem is that as we see this program expand rapidly we still see health care costs shooting up higher and higher.

Here is the really interesting thing. I've been an elected official for about five years now. Everyone wants more money. Everyone. Parks, police, fire, public works, advocates for some program, pools, roads...everyone.

Tonight I read a letter where the SEIU UHW West was advocating for a hourly wage increase for thier members. The thing I respect about it is that they actually outline places in the county where the money could come from. Impressive. Although I may not agree with the places they want to take it from I certainly respect that they have the intellectual honesty to point to places to solve the problem.
