Yesterday I was asked about the crime rate in Yolo County. To be honest - I did not really know much about the stats.
So, I started looking into them. It is not a good situation.
Take a look at these numbers for Yolo County. Standing alone -- they don't mean much. But let's compare with some other counties in the area.
When you look at crimes that are broken down by incidents per 100,000 population it make smush more sense. These numbers are for 2005.
Homicide:
Yolo 2.1
Sacramento 8.0
Solano 6.9
Placer 1.6
El Dorado 2.8
Napa 0.7
Sutter 7.2
San Luis Obispo 1.5
San Diego 3.2
The one that really bothers me is the rape number --
Yolo 34.9
Sac 29.7
Solano 21.2
Placer 17.8
El Dorado 12
Napa 27
Sutter 19.2
San Luis Obispo 28.9
San Diego 26.6
Robbery
Yolo 77
Sac 241
Solano 101
Palcer 38
El Dorado 23
Napa 33
Sutter 176
SLO 34
San Diego 128
Agg Assault
Yolo 297
Sac 420
Solano 210
Colusa 152
El Dorado 235
Napa 296
Sutter 216
SLo 224
San Diego 294
What do you think? I am not feeling so safe right now.
I am in Oak Park right now -- and don't feel to badly about it. |

Regarding crime, here's more for anybody interested about John McCain:
In Feb. 1999, J. McCain voted to restrict drug treatment programs (more: http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/John_McCain.htm).
In May 1999, he supported a bill allowing religious symbols in public schools.
Again in May 1999, he espoused the belief that a filtered internet would be good for America: http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/John_McCain.htm
We need to show McCain for the right wing radical that he is...don't even consider him if you think yourself moderate.

Yolovoter! We have missed you like a case of athlete's foot.
How is working America?
Who are you supporting for President? You can tear up my candidate but you fail to offer one of your own. What is the deal?
Don't tell us what you are against. That is easy. Tell us what you are for.
