I would have to say that Art Pimentel and Jeff Monroe are locks for re-election.
So who makes it in the third seat? On the natural it would probably be Frank. He has run for Supervisor three times. If Martie and Fred work hard they have a chance.
I don't think Bobby can win in Woodland. |

Matt:
It's pretty easy (conventional) to claim that incumbants are invulnerable, and that if other candidates work hard, . . . one of them will win --- except me, of course.
Can you articulate details regarding your view, that I'm unelectable in Woodland?
My election platform is broad and diverse, including a local restoration of the - "American Dream" - of affordable home ownership through creating a much needed, new paradigm of housing development that will bring community equity within reach of regular Woodlanders --- not just the wealthy.
The present real-estate / housing model, home ownership system, is very badly broken, dysfunctional, an unethical and counterproductive commodification racket of exploitation --- and this serious and basic problem demands good policy leadership to resolve.
As a city council member, I will work to:
Create a program with county / state to transform the fairgrounds parcel (~ 2 million square feet) into an updated model of affordable home ownership, featuring 600 - 1300 sqare foot dwellings with reasonable lots using reduced infrastructure, with a goal of producing homes for less than $100,000, thereby bringing variously beneficial in-fill housing into Woodland's core area (such action would serve to revitalize the mall, expand ridership of Yolobus and promote downtown redevelopment, plus provide a sound basis, economic leverage, for the long anticipated relocation of the fairgrounds to an improved site);
Establish a municipal housing committee to focus on improving housing options throughout the city;
Re-invigorate downtown redevelopment program (one-way Main and Court Streets from Sixth the Cleveland; diagonal parking, 4-way stop signs and 15 mph on Main Street; event promotion banners across Main and Court Streets; successful downtown business association; redevelopment incentives and zoning to achieve goals; promotion of regular arts and community events; improved entertainment options);
Establish a community advisory board on public safety and police;
Create a new Latino cultural festival: Mexican Independence Day (September 16, 1810);
Establish a municipal climate-change, carbon reduction program;
Create a public forum for comments / questions on municipal website, to assist in generating discussion of city affairs and council agenda items;
Enhance capabilities of city library, television station.
So, that's the beginning of my election platform. What do you think, credible benefits for Woodland?
I look forward to this election campaign, Matt.

Bobby:
Thank you for writing. I don't have time this morning to explain my view of you being unelectable but will be happy to post on it later today or tonight.

Bobby:
Elections in Woodland are generally won by people that have made a continuous commitment to the community.
Pimentel and Monroe were born here. Skip Davies was a school principal here for years. His kids grew up here. Dave Flory has been around for years and his brother held office. Bill Marble has been active in the community, his church, and met thousands of people with his dental practice.
Look at Neal Peart. He has lived in Woodland his whole life. Same with me pretty much. Sieferman -- same there.
Martie Dote? Her married last name is associated with community involvement, a photography shop, and family members in the area.
Like it or not that is a big part of Woodland politics.
In your case I think you --
1) have not lived in Woodland for more than a few months indicating instability 2) don't have a job indicating instability 3) have not been getting favorable news coverage over the past few years
Even if i thought your platform was perfect, how would you communicate it to people?

As a small business man in Woodland I am supporting Alfredo "Fred" Lopez a fellow small business man for City Council, it seems to me that someone who works twice as hard to make something work by the sweat of his brow in an admirable character trait. Fred has "common sense" approach to problems. I'll be supporting Fred!
